Residents Raising Funds for Newtown Man Killed in Tragic Accident

The Newtown community is mourning the death of Ryan Fetchick, 19, who was killed while working on his car Sunday morning.

NEWTOWN, CT — The community is mourning the death of Ryan Fetchick, 19, who was killed by his own car that broke free from a jack lift Sunday morning.

A gofundme page has been started in support of Fetchick's family to use at their discretion started by Rebecca Pearson. Fetchick's death is currently being regarded by police as a tragic accident.

"Ryan was just 19 years old, he had a whole life ahead of him," read the gofundme page."He had a huge heart, was an awesome friend, and had many things going for him."

According to a report from the News Times, Fetchick was a mechanic who worked at Rte. 25 Powersports in Monroe, and was also involved in motocross.

According to the gofundme page, Fetchick's funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at the Newtown Congregational Church, UCC located at 14 West Street in Newtown.

As of 2:04 p.m. Tuesday, the page has raised $4,599 by 64 people in just one day.

"He was taken too soon, will be missed dearly and never forgotten," read the page.
