Same License Plate Found On 2 Separate Cars: Newtown PD

An officer noticed two vehicles driving with the same license plate next to each other.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown Police officer knew something wasn't adding up after he saw two vehicles next to each other with the same license plate, according to police.

The two vehicles were traveling on Berkshire Road and were stopped March 1.

"The two drivers had recently purchased one of the vehicles, took the front plate off the current car and put onto the rear of the other car," said Officer Adam James.

The newly purchased car lacked insurance and proper registration.

Jeanette Cruz, 47, of Bridgeport was issued a summons for improper use of plates and failure to maintain minimum insurance. Isaac Mateo-Rodriguez, 35, was issued a summons for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and failure to display front plate.
