Sandy Hook Father Awarded $450k In Defamation Lawsuit
Leonard Pozner said the case wasn't about First Amendment rights, but the right of victims to live free of defamation and terror.
NEWTOWN, CT — A Wisconsin jury awarded Leonard Pozner $450,000 in a defamation case against a conspiracy theorist who claimed Pozner circulated fake copies of his son's death certificate.
Pozner, whose son Noah, 6, was killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting sued James Fetzer over claims made in a book and on his blog, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. A judge found that Fetzer had made four false claims about Noah Pozner's death certificate.
Pozner said the case wasn't about First Amendment rights, but was about victims having the right not to be terrorized and defamed.
