Sandy Hook Parents File Brief to Supreme Court for Reinstatement of Remington Suit: Report

Attorneys for the parents of Sandy Hook victims have filed a brief to the State Supreme Court against Remington Arms Co.

NEWTOWN, CT — Attorneys for families of several victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting have filed a legal brief with the state Supreme Court which seeks to reinstate a lawsuit against gunmaker Remington Arms Co., reports the Hartford Courant.

The 62-page brief argues that the maker of the Bushmaster AR-15 knowingly marketed a military weapon to a high-risk class of young males fascinated by violent video games, reports the Courant. The gunman used the Bushmaster AR-15 to take the lives of 20 children and six educators during the events of 12/14.

The brief, written by Attorney Josh Koskoff, also named Camfour Holding LLP, who distributes the weapon, and Riverview Gun Sales, Inc., where the shooter's mother purchased the weapon.

In November of 2014, a judge dismissed the original suit citing the shooter's actions fell within the scope of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which protects gun manufacturers from the criminal misuse of the weapons they produce.
