Sandy Hook Promise Founder Considers Run for Esty's Seat
Mark Barden has become a well-known advocate for gun control since the death of his son.

NEWTOWN, CT --- Composer and musician Mark Barden became a staunch gun control advocate following the death of his son at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in 2012. Now he is examining a run for Congress in Connecticut’s 5th District, the seat currently held by scandal-tainted Rep. Elizabeth Esty.
Barden is a founder and managing director of Sandy Hook Promise, a national non-profit organization that provides educational programs on gun violence and gun control. He has appeared before Congress and met with presidents Obama and Trump to advocate for stricter gun policies.
Barden has not announced a deadline for making a decision, the Connecticut Mirror has reported.
