Sandy Hook School Funds Eyed to Help Close State Deficit

The school is expected to come in under budget, which could be a small part in closing the state budget deficit.

NEWTOWN, CT- A potential surplus from the Sandy Hook Elementary School project could be a small part in closing the state budget.

Gov. Dannel Malloy's administration is looking to repurpose $2.3 million of the $50 million bonded for the project to help close a fiscal gap, according to the News-Times.

The project is expected to come in under budget. A Malloy administrator said the state is committed to seeing the project gets completed with the appropriate amount of funding.
