Police Search Near Newtown Schools Delays Dismissal After I-84 Crash
Police said two individuals fled a crash on I-84, prompting a search that caused delays at school dismissal.
NEWTOWN, CT — Police searched for two individuals near Newtown schools Wednesday after they fled on foot from a crash on Interstate 84, according to officials.
The Connecticut State Police contacted the Newtown Police Department around 1:29 p.m. to assist in the search, which focused on the area of The Boulevard.
Police said the individuals had fled from a motor vehicle accident on I-84 and were last seen nearby.

During the search, officers coordinated with local schools and nearby facilities to ensure the safety of students and residents. The response caused a brief delay in school dismissals, officials said.
Officers later located and arrested one of the individuals on School House Hill Road. State police are handling the criminal investigation.
