See What Kept Newtown Police Busy In June

Here's what topped the department's monthly activity report.

NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown police responded to 1,578 calls for service during the department's latest reporting period, according to a department activity update.

Among the incidents handled by officers were 280 traffic stops, 117 suspicious activity calls, 78 motor vehicle accidents or incidents, 50 alarms and 27 health and wellness checks.

The department made 28 arrests and 223 enforcement actions.

Police also responded to 17 fraud complaints, 16 disputes or domestic incidents, 12 911 checks, 10 larcenies, six crisis intervention calls, four trespassing complaints, three stolen motor vehicle reports, three medical assists, two death investigations and one weapons violation.

"Our officers are patrolling the streets of Newtown 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year," the department said in the update, thanking officers for their continued service to the community.
