Some Home Schooled Parents Worried About Sandy Hook Commission Recomendations

Some parents worried that the report could lead to new laws that would change home schooling in the state.

Some parents who homeschool their children are banding together after recommendations made by the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission.

Some were worried that the recommendations could lead to individual education programs for homeschoolers, according to the News-Times.

Commission members said the IEP recommendations only for those who already had it in place during public schooling.

The report had a section on homeschooling. Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza was home bound, which means he was still under the guise of the public school system.

There are an estimated 5,000 homeschooled children in Connecticut. Commission chairman Scott Jackson said he hopes the report will encourage parents of homeschoolers to seek help for behavioral issues.
