Three Charged After Stolen Vehicles, Crash Reported Overnight In Newtown

Police say a stolen vehicle investigation and crash led to charges against one adult and two juveniles in Newtown.

NEWTOWN, CT — Police in Newtown said three people, including a 19-year-old Stratford resident and two juveniles, were taken into custody early Thursday, Jan. 22, following reports of stolen motor vehicles and a crash in town.

According to the Newtown Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly after 1:15 a.m. to a report of an abandoned vehicle at the intersection of Aunt Park Lane and Hundred Acres Road. About 20 minutes later, police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Butterfield Road involving a vehicle registered to a residence on Aunt Park Lane.

During the investigation, officers determined that both vehicles had been reported stolen. Police also learned from a witness that a third vehicle was driving slowly in the Butterfield Road area. That vehicle was later located and stopped by a patrol officer.
