Thunder Eliminated from World Series
Newtown is out of 10U Cal Ripken World Series contention, losing its third game to Jacksonville Beach, FL on Monday, but not before one player hits a homerun.
The Thunder has lost its third game of the 10U Cal Ripken World Series, essentially putting itself out of title contention.
The Newtown team has one more game to play Tuesday before its run in the World Series for 10-year-olds officially ends. The Thunder came into the tournament as New England Regional Champion but faltered in its last three games.
On Monday, a team from Jacksonville Beach, FL defeated Newtown 11-1. One of the Florida players, Lucas Gutierrez hit two homeruns, tying the 10-year-old World Series record for most in a game.

Newtown's Connor Barrett also had a home run, which came in the first inning. In fact, both teams headed into the second inning tied but Jacksonville Beach proved too much for Newtown, scoring four runs in the second inning, two in the third and four in the fifth before the game was suspended due to the 10-run-rule after five innings.
Newtown's Adam Bergeron hit a double while Ben Harrison also had a hit.

On Sunday, the Thunder . Coach Tom Harrison said after that game the Florida team just kept cranking out hits, which proved to be too much for Newtown.
On Tuesday, the Thunder will play its final game at 11:30 a.m. against Northwest Bakersfield, CA.
