Vehicle Fire Ignited Five Feet From Newtown Home

NEWTOWN, CT — Firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire Saturday before the flames could spread to a nearby home, according to Newtown Hook & Ladder.

Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company was initially dispatched to the fire, which officials said was about 5 feet from the residence.

Because of the vehicle’s proximity to the home, Dodgingtown requested assistance from Newtown Hook & Ladder to ensure enough personnel and equipment were at the scene.

Firefighters launched a “fast and aggressive attack” and brought the blaze under control before it extended to the residence, Newtown Hook & Ladder said.

No damage to the home was reported.
