WEEKEND EDITION OF "ASK THE ARBORIST"

Spring is here and today our staff Forester/Arborist Jeff Cowden wanted to share additional photos of the Saucer Magnolia (Magnolia x soulangeana) sometimes referred to as the Chinese Magnolia.  Saucer Magnolia trees are not native to North America and are smaller than our native Cucumber Tree (Magnolia Acuminate).  Saucer Magnolias are a hybrid of two Chinese Magnolias the Lilly Magnolia (Magnolia liliiflora) and the Yulan Magnolia (Magnolia denudata)  Our photos here show several Saucer Magnolias in full bloom.  Right now is the peak time to observe the brilliant flower show in Newtown.
