Weekend Police Blotter, Oct. 15 - 17

Botsford Lane: The left rear corner of a Newtown Exxon flatbed tow truck, operated by Nickolas J. Kopcki, 42, of 1 Short Hill Road, grazed the trunk lid of a parked Newtown police vehicle while leaving the scene of a motor vehicle incident on Botsford Lane at South Main Street at about 11:15 a.m., Sunday, police said. Kopcki was issued a verbal warning for unsafe movement, improper starting.

Church Hill Road: A Toyota RAV4, driven by Juliana Faith Detweiler, 19, of 121 John Lane, McVeytown, VA, rear-ended a Volvo, driven by Allison L. Washington, 37, of 29 Taunton Hill Road, on Church Hill Road at about noon, Friday, police said. No injuries were reported. Detweiler received a verbal warning for failure to maintain reasonable distance apart.

Flat Swamp Road: Mailboxes at 49A, 47, 36, 39, 46 and 48 Flat Swamp Road as well as the one at 14 Cemetery Road was vandalized between 9:30 p.m., Friday and 7:30 a.m., Saturday, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer John McCluskey at 203-426-5841.

Gray Plains Road: A vehicle, driven by Patricia L. McDermott, 43, of 73 Charter Ridge Drive, went off of the roadway by 17 Gray Plains Road at about 6 p.m., Sunday and crashed into a utility pole, police said. No injuries were reported. McDermott was issued an infraction for restricted turn.

Huntingtown Road: A juvenile was charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a domestic altercation between the juvenile and mother at their home on Huntingtown Road on Sunday, police said. The juvenile was to appear in the juvenile division of the state Superior Court in Danbury on Monday.

Main Street: A Volkswagen, driven by Kelly Olencki, 17, of 89 Dewey Ave., New Milford, rear-ended a Ford van, driven by Daniel Dicicco, 35, of 40 Allen Road, Norwalk at about 2:20 p.m., Friday, police said. Olencki was issued an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and failure to carry her operator's livense with her. She was issued a written warning for failure to renew her motor vehicle registration.

Mile Hill Road South: A Volkswagen Routan van, operated by Charlene Bailey, struck a tree that had fallen across the roadway on Mile Hill Road South by its intersection of Keatings Farm Ave. despite there being a parked police vehicle with its emergency lights activated blocking a lane of travel at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. No injuries were reported and no enforcement action was taken, police said.

Obtuse Road: A Ford sport utility vehicle, driven by James P. O'Connor, 20, of 5 Sawmill Ridge Road, lost control, skid on the wet roadway and crashed into a tree by 3 Obtuse Road at about 11 p.m., Friday, police said. No injuries were reported. O'Connor received a verbal warning.

Riverside Road: Thomas Pundy, 40, of 122 Riverside Road, was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility and restricted turn following a one-vehicle crash on Riverside Road at about 2:15 a.m., Saturday, police said. Pundy had left the crash but was found in the area, police said. He was released on a $70 bond and is to appear Oct. 28 in state Superior Court in Danbury.

South Main Street: A Mazda, driven by Raul C. Riera-Aguilar, 44, of 9 Division St., Danbury, rear-ended a Hyundai, driven by David Strayer, 55, of Millbrook, N.Y. at about 7 p.m., Sunday on South Main Street by Homestead Lane, police said. No injuries were reported. Riera-Aguilar was issued an infraction for operating without a license and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

South Main Street: A BMW, driven by Mark T. Nuelle, 50, of 3 New Lebbon Road, backed into a Honda, operated by Matthew McPartland, 19, of 137 Greenwood Lane, Monroe, at about 1 p.m., Saturday in the parking lot of 228 S. Main St., police said. No injuries were reported. No enforcement was taken because it was on private property.

South Main Street: A Ford sport utility vehicle, operated by Eric V. Palmer, 21, of 11 Stuart Drive, exited the driveway at 316 S. Main St., and struck a Ford pickup, driven by Thomas S. Paloian, 25, of 27 Botsford Hill Road, at about 10:30 a.m., Sunday, police said. Police did not report injuries. Palmer was issued an infraction for failure to yield at a private driveway.

Teachers Ridge Road: Several items were taken from two motor vehicles parked at a residence on Teachers Ridge Road sometime between 10:30 p.m., Friday and 8 a.m., Saturday, police said. Taken was an HP laptop computer, briefcase and GPS. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Newtown police department at 203-426-5841.

Wedgewood Court: Someone damaged a mailbox at 5 Wedgewood Court between 6 p.m., Saturday and 3 a.m., Sunday, police said. Damage was estimated at $150, police said.
