UPDATE: What Ever Happened to Those Thunderstorms?
The National Weather Service had issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area on Thursday.

Remember that storm that was supposed to be here sometime this afternoon and early evening? It’s not only late, but the National Weather Service, which had announced its pending arrival, now says the storm’s likely not coming at all.
In its late afternoon update, the National Weather Service says there is now only a “slight” chance of showers but otherwise you’ll be able to enjoy the sunny skies for the remainder of the evening. Temps will remain in the mid 80s.

Friday will be a nice sunny day with temps in the 80s, and thunderstorms possible on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties for the chance of strong to severe thunderstorms beginning this afternoon and continuing into the evening.
“There is the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening as a cold front slowly moves through the area. The main threat is damaging winds...with a low chance for flash flooding due to storms regenerating over the same areas,” the National Weather Service writes in its latest weather statement.
The National Weather Service writes that Newtown’s severe weather could begin after noon and some strong storms are possible up until midnight.
- Thursday, A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. West wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Thursday night, A chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
After today’s chance of severe weather, more unsettled weather is predicted beginning late Friday and for most of Saturday, the National Weather Service writes.
