Who Sideswiped The Amazon Truck? Newtown PD Seeks Aid In Investigation

The Newtown Police Department is seeking the assistance of residents in their investigation of a hit-and-run involving an Amazon truck.

NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Police Department is seeking the assistance of residents in their investigation of a hit-and-run that occurred around 7:05 p.m. on July 24.

An Amazon delivery truck, with driver sitting inside, was parked "parked safely and legally along the shoulder of Sugar Street," facing eastbound, according to police, when it was sideswiped by a blue Chevrolet Silverado.

The Chevy was traveling eastbound on Sugar Street, and likely sustained minor damage to its right side view mirror as a result of this accident, according to police.

The truck took minor damage to its left side view mirror, including damage to the signal light assembly which is affixed within the mirror housing, police said. The truck did not require a tow, and its driver did not complain of injuries as a result of the accident, Officer John Facto wrote in his report. No information was provided about the driver or the vehicle’s license plates.
