1 Dead Following 3-Car Crash In North Branford: Police

The crash happened on Forest Road near Gulf Brook Drive shortly after 8:45 a.m. Saturday, according to police.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — A man is dead and two other people are injured following a three-car crash Saturday on Route 22 in North Branford, according to police.

In a Facebook post, North Branford police said officers responded to Forest Road near Gulf Brook Drive shortly after 8:45 a.m. after receiving a report of a serious car accident. When officers arrived, they discovered three cars were involved in the crash.

According to police, the driver of one car — a 40-year-old man — sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was taken to Yale New Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Authorities did not release the man's name pending notification of family.

One driver sustained severe injuries in the crash, while the other had minor injuries, according to police.

Forest Road near Gulf Brook Drive was closed for several hours Saturday as police investigated the crash. Residents were encouraged to use alternate routes.
