2-Car Crash Downs Utility Poles, Closes Roads In North Branford

Middletown Avenue and Reeds Gap Road were closed for an extended period of time Saturday following a crash in the area, police said.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — Authorities closed two roads in North Branford on Saturday following a two-car crash that down several utility poles and wires, according to police.

Middletown Avenue and Reeds Gap Road were closed for an extended period Saturday following a crash near the intersection of the two roads, North Branford police said in a statement.

Authorities responded to the area after receiving multiple 911 calls. First responders arrived and discovered the crash involving two cars had downed three utility poles and multiple wires. Wallingford Electric also responded and cut off power to the area so authorities could tend to the crash victims, according to authorities.

Police said one driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the other refused medical attention.

The accident is currently under investigation, police said.
