NORTH BRANFORD, CT —In July 2022, the State Bond Commission approved a $4.5 million grant to move forward with the long-planned construction of the new police department. The Lamont Administration Grant-In-Aid will help cover the estimated $13 million project cost. At the time, North Branford Chief of Police Kevin Halloran said a police building would "come as a welcome relief to the citizens of North Branford and the North Branford Police."

Monday, seven months after the grant award announcement, the ground was broken on the 305 Forest Road location.

The current facility, at 260 Forest Road in Northford, was built in 1970 and "is at the end of its life as useful for policing," per officials.
