NORTH BRANFORD, CT — Mid-afternoon Monday, a male Rottweiler was dumped at a Shaw Road building, according to the East Haven Animal Shelter, which serves North Branford.
In a post to social media, the shelter noted that at around 2:45 p.m., a two-door silver BMW left the dog.
"We are hoping someone may recognize the vehicle, know who was driving it, or have any information that could help us identify the person responsible for abandoning this dog," the shelter posted.
The dog was cared for initially by a local dog day care.
"Despite what he has been through, this boy is incredibly sweet. He even enjoyed his bath and has been nothing but gentle and affectionate with everyone who has helped him," the shelter noted. "The amazing staff at Devil Dog Daycare kept him safe until our team could arrive, and they lovingly nicknamed him 'Rhino.'"

"Even the smallest detail could help. Let's work together to get answers for this sweet boy and hold the person responsible," the shelter wrote.
"'Rhino' is not up for adoption at the moment, but we will keep everyone updated on his progress," the animal shelter said.
