Booking Around the USA

"Booking Across America" kicked off today and is spreading across the country! Teacher bloggers from all 50 states are sharing books that in some way represent their states. You'll also see favorite places and activities of each of the states. Many teachers are having "giveaways" of lessons they love. 

I'm the Connecticut blogger representing the book "The Legend of Hobbomock, The Sleeping Giant" written by Jason Marchi, a Connecticut award winning author, poet and journalist. Jesse Bonelli, also a Connecticut native and gifted artist, created the illustrations for this wonderful picture book. The book is for ages 6-10 but anyone will enjoy this incredible legend! 

I grew up in Cheshire, just a few miles from the Sleeping Giant and had heard tales about "him" all my life. I was very honored when Jason asked me create activities that are fun and align with the Common Core for his book. The activity packet will be sold with the book and an audio version that's being created by an NPR radio show host who plays classical music and reviews it. 

Hobbomock won the Connecticut Press Award for fiction and in 2011, it was a top seller at the Barnes and Noble store in North Haven.
