North Branford T-Birds Hockey Secures a Spot in the State Tournament; Stands at 8-2!!!!!

The North Branford T-Birds hockey defeated Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks to earn a spot in the state tournament and now stands at a record of 8-2!

 

This past Saturday evening many fans came out to see the North Branford T-Birds hockey take on Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks at the Northford Ice Pavillion.This was a very exciting game with lots of motivation for North Branford to earn its 8th win, which would earn the T-Birds a spot in the state tournament.

In the first period, goals were scored by senior Nik Castaldi assisted by Dylan Podbielski, the second goal was scored by sophomore Chris Russo assisted by Brendan Appi. The score at the end of the first period was tied at 2-2.

In the second period, junior Nick Johnson scored the third goal assisted by Alec Martone. The fourth goal was scored by sophomore Alec Martone, assisted by Dylan Podbielski and Nik Castaldi. At the end of the second period, the score was 4-3 the T-Birds had the lead.

During the third period, the T-Birds added another two goals to the scoreboard to secure their lead to 6-3. Goals were scored by Junior Brendan Appi assisted by Nik Castaldi and Dylan Podbielski. The last goal was scored by Alec Martone assisted by Dylan Podbielski and Mark Russo.

Overall it was a very well-fought game. The defense and offense played very well in the third period. Goalie Kyle Saroka had 13 saves. The T-Birds now have a record of 8-2. The next game is at the Northford Ice Pavillion on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. Come out and support the T-Birds as they take on Tri-Town.
