They say you can tell a lot about a person by the contents of their purse and I daresay once upon a time that was true. With the increase of dependency on technology I think today you can get a better snapshot of who someone is by the content of their phone.
Let’s use my family as an example. Yes I know they will be mad at me, but my kids are teenagers so they are mad at me most of the time anyway. Besides I doubt they will even read this….
So if you look at my husband’s phone he has a variety of apps he uses for work; science stuff the rest of us don’t understand. He travels a lot for his job so he also has apps to update him on flight and traffic information. Then you get to the games, looking at these it’s easy to see he is a big kid at heart; Fruit Ninja and Temple Run are big favorites of his. He used to compare scores with our youngest and felt compelled to better any scores she got. It was funny when she found the cheat code for Temple Run and Kevin’s head almost exploded with the effort of trying to beat her score. I eventually had to let him in on the secret, he was spending way too much time and getting too frustrated for it to be funny anymore!

Music is another story; Kevin is kind of a hoarder when it comes to his itunes library. Frequently we will be listening to his ipod on shuffle and a song will come on and one of us will ask what it is…and he won’t know. He will have a vague recollection of downloading it but that’s about it.
Our two kids are like night and day; our older daughter’s music collection reflects her growing up and the traveling she has done. When she came back from her summer in the UK she had discovered Portuguese guitar music known as fado. She also developed a liking to British bands, which was a good thing until she discovered One Direction!

Our youngest is a ballet dancer so her phone is loaded with music from classic ballets; The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet etc. Sure she has some stuff from this century but for the most part she is either watching ballet videos on youtube or listening to it.
So what does my phone say about me? Well judging from my apps you would see I’m just a typical mom, but my music might confuse you. I have an eclectic taste in music to say the least. I like everything from classical to heavy metal. I tend to obsess about albums; I will get an album and listen to it exclusively for weeks before moving on. My current one surprised even me; my brother kept bugging me to listen to Raintown, a Scottish band he heard, so I downloaded their album Hope in Troubled Times. I was surprised when I read it was country, I don't like country music, and could Scots people "do country?!" but I gave it a shot and I love it so it’s my new obsession! So I guess it's true; You can take the girl out of the country, but you cant take country out of the girl.
