Connecticut Hospitals Rated First To Worst: Where Does Your Hospital Rate?

Quarterly grades for all of the nation's hospitals were released recently and we have ratings for all 27 Connecticut hospitals.

When it comes to hospital rankings in Connecticut there is some good news and some bad news.

First the bad news. No Connecticut based hospital received a 5-star rating, which is based on patient reviews compiled by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospital Compare list.

The time period covers patient surveys between Jan.1 and Dec. 31 of 2014, according to Healthcare Finance News. Patients receive the surveys at the end of their hospital care. The rankings are updated quarterly.

The good news is only one Connecticut hospital received a 1-star rating for patient experience that is Manchester Memorial Hospital.

In that regard, Connecticut bucked the national trend. There are 3,539 hospitals nationally and the number of 1-star ratings more than doubled from 102 in July to 242 now.

And the number of 5-star ratings for hospitals nationally also decreased significantly from 548 in July to 309 now.

Nationally, 1,135 hospitals received 4-star reviews, 922 hospitals 3-stars, and 931 hospitals also received 2-stars.

  • Sharon Hospital in Sharon
  • Stamford Hospital in Stamford
  • Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport
  • Saint Mary’s, which is based in Waterbury
  • MidState Medical Center, which is based in Meriden
  • Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven
  • William W. Backus Hospital, which is based in Norwich
  • Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk
  • Hospital of Central Connecticut, which is based in New Britain

  • Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury
  • Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, which is based in New London
  • Johnson Memorial Hospital, which is based in Stafford Springs
  • Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, which is based in Torrington
  • Rockville General Hospital, which is based in Rockville
  • Windham Community Memorial Hospital, which is based in Willimantic
