East Haven Man Tried to Run Over 2 North Branford Cops

Police say he was a suspect in car break-ins in the area.

North Branford police say Israel Santiago, 30, of East Haven, is accused of trying to run over two North Branford police officers who tried to take him and his passenger into custody in a car burglary case, NBC Connecticut reports.

NBC reports that Santiago and Anthony Tuozzola, 29, of New Haven , are accused of breaking into cars on Sea Hill Road.

Santiago and Tuozzola were spotted around 1 a.m. Sunday and at that time Santiago allegedly “rammed” a police cruiser and attempted to hit two officers with his car before fleeing the scene.

Police were able to apprehend Tuozzola a short distance later, NBC Connecticut reports. Santiago fled the scene but a North Haven police K-9 unit tracked him to a Route 80 business where he was allegedly caught in the act of stealing a car, NBC Connecticut reports.
