East Haven Police Department Cracking Down on ATV Abuses

So far the Police Department has responded to 230 calls for service this year.

Since the beginning of 2014, East Haven Police Department has recorded approximately 230 calls for service regarding illegal ATV activity on public roads or public property within the Town of East Haven, according to a press release by police.

East Haven has had an ongoing problem with ATVs, operating recklessly on our roadways, causing dangerous situations for legal motor vehicle traffic.

Some of these ATV riders have even gone so far as to harass motorists who are traveling the roadways. East Haven Police Department takes this illegal activity very seriously and will continue to enforce the law.

This year, nearly ten offenders were arrested and charged with crimes associated with this illegal activity. Numerous dirt bikes and quads have been seized by the East Haven Police Department.

Recently, the court awarded one of these vehicles to the Department following a hearing.

The Department continues to vigorously investigate these crimes, and has ongoing investigations and arrest warrants pending for some of the offenders involved in recent activity.
