
Edward “Chef Ed” Slubowski, 50 of Northford, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Nov. 5, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Catherine Taylor Slubowski and his beautiful daughter, Madeline Elizabeth Slubowski.
Ed was born on January 13, 1961 in New Haven to the late Sigmund and Madeline Slubowski. Ed grew up in East Haven and was a 1979 graduate of East Haven High School and a Culinary graduate of Eli Whitney Technical School. He was the Food Service Director for the North Branford School System. Prior to that, Ed worked for Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
He was a member of CT Hackers Golf Club. Their first tournament of 2012 will be the Ed Slubowski Memorial Tournament. He was also a member of the Totoket Council of the Knights of Columbus and the NorthEast Salt Water Fishing Club and an Honorary Member of the North Branford Rotary Club.

Ed was the 2005 recipient of the North Branford School’s “Above and Beyond” award, the 2010 “Shining Star Award” for the North Branford Education Foundation and the 2010 “Top Chef Award” for the NorthEast Salt Water Fishing Club. Ed was a generous soul who loved to do for others, especially the children of North Branford Schools. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, NASCAR, NY Giants, NY Mets and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Ed is survived by his sister Jane and her husband Ken Fournier and their daughter, Meaghan Ames of East Haven; his brother John and his wife, Jen Slubowski of East Haven and their daughters, Van and Sam Bodnar; his mother and father-in-law, Betty and Gill Taylor of Florida; his brother-in-law Rich Taylor and his wife, Qing and their sons, Derryk and Kyle of Maryland; his sister-in-law, Addie and her husband Tom Brodeur and their sons, Cam and Zach of Lisbon, CT and his God-daughter Nicole Reynolds of North Haven. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and an extended family of friends who will miss him greatly.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at , 1331 Middletown Avenue (Route 17), Northford. His funeral procession will be from Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road (Rte. 22 So. at Rte 80.), North Branford, on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Madeline Slubowski Education Fund. Contributions should be made payable to Madeline Slubowski and sent to First Niagara Bank, Madeline Slubowski Education Fund, 1715 Foxon Road, North Branford, CT, 06471.
