Is Your Family Screen Free This Week?
Jerome Harrison is holding Screen-Free Week through April 28.

Students at have been encouraged to go ‘Screen-Free’ from April 22 to 28. The PTO is hosting Screen-Free Week (formerly TV-Turnoff), which “is an annual celebration where children, families, schools, and communities turn off screens and turn on life. Instead of relying on screens for entertainment, participants read, daydream, explore, enjoy nature, and enjoy spending time with family and friends,” according to Commercial-Free Childhood.
Monica Watson Cucchiarelli, a PTO member and chair of Screen-Free Week/Bingo Night, shared a list of 101 screen-free activities (see PDF), which is capped off with the PTO’s Family Bingo Night at Jerome Harrison on Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. Jerome Harrison students and their families are welcome to join the PTO for the fun-filled night.
“We look forward to this week, and especially Thursday night, being a great success for our children and families,” said Cucchiarelli. “The purpose of the event is to encourage children and families to turn off screens and turn on life by reading, daydreaming, exploring, enjoying nature and enjoying spending time with family and friends.”
