With Knife At Clerk's Neck, Man Tries To Rob Cumberland Farms: NBPD

The armed suspect, described as a white male in a dark-colored sedan, jumped behind the counter, but woman clerk fought him off, cops say.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — A man, armed with a knife, jumped behind the Foxon Road Cumberland Farms counter and held, holding the knife to the female clerk's neck and demanded money Sunday at around 6:30 p.m., North Branford police said in a news release.

The woman fought the man off and was not physically injured, police said.

Police got a 911 call reporting the attempted robbery at the 2090 Foxon Road convenience store. By the time officers got there, the suspect taken off in a dark-colored sedan, police said.

Described as a white male, 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds, he was wearing a black and white hoodie, dark-colored pants and had a black and blue backpack, per police.

The North Branford Detective Bureau is investigating. Police are "urging" anyone who either witnessed the attempted robbery or has any information about the suspect call 203-484-2703, or the North Branford anonymous tip line at 203-484-2201.
