Longtime Law Enforcement Officer, North Branford Native, Comes Home To Protect and Serve

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — North Branford native Matthew Iannucci has been behind the scenes at the police department for a couple of years in a civilian leadership role. Now he’s ready to get on the roads as a patrol officer. A now-retired longtime police officer in a nearby town, Iannucci’s passion for community service is part of who he is.

The North Branford Police Department explains:

“Please join us in welcoming our newest police officer to the North Branford Police Department!

Last night, Officer Matthew Iannucci was officially sworn in as a member of the North Branford Police Department Patrol Division.

Officer Iannucci is a proud graduate of North Branford High School and earned his bachelor's degree in Criminology from Central Connecticut State University. He began his law enforcement career with the Woodbridge Police Department, where he served with distinction and rose to the rank of Detective.

In 2024, Matthew returned home to North Branford to join our department as the Integrated Police Operations Manager. In that civilian leadership role, he introduced innovative processes, strengthened our operations, and played a pivotal role in helping the department achieve the highest level of Connecticut State Accreditation for the first time in our history.

Matthew's passion for public service and law enforcement has never wavered. Last night, he answered that calling once again by taking the oath as a sworn police officer. We are excited to see him continue serving the community he proudly calls home.

We would also like to thank North Branford Councilwoman Marie Diamond for administering the Oath of Office during this special ceremony.
