Man and Teen Accused of Riding ATVs, Throwing Rocks At Cars in East Haven
East Haven police say they were wearing masks while driving around town.

On Thursday the East Haven Police Department received several calls regarding erratic operation of ATVs by several masked individuals on quads, police said in a press release.
The Police Department also received several calls from motorists claiming that these same individuals were throwing rocks at their vehicles in the area of Main Street and Forbes Place in the center of East Haven.
Officers then began searching the area. A short time later, officers located the above mentioned individuals on Foxon Road (Route 80) and observed these individuals operating erratically on ATVs.

Officers later observed the operators pull into the Sunoco Station on Frontage Road and apprehended one of the individuals, a 15 year-old male.
It was also determined that a vehicle was following the ATV operators, videotaping their actions. With the assistance of Branford Police Department, a motor vehicle stop was conducted on that vehicle.

The operator, Vincent Verderame, 31, had an active violation of probation arrest warrant and was taken into custody. The juvenile was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, reckless driving, third-degree criminal mischief, and several other motor vehicle charges.
The ATV was seized by East Haven Police Department. The Violation of Probation warrant was served on Verderame and he was released after posting a $5,000 court set bond. Verderame has a court date of August 20, 2014 at New Haven Superior Court.
