McMahon, Murphy Win CT, North Branford
In today's primary, Linda McMahon and Chris Murphy came out on top in the Senate race in North Branford, while Paulette Hart was voted registrar of voters for the Republican party.

As expected, Republican Linda McMahon and Democrat Chris Murphy will face off in November for the right to succeed Joe Lieberman in the U.S. Senate.
With 77 percent of the precincts reporting at 10 p.m., McMahon was soundly defeating former U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays with 76 percent of the vote. .

Meanwhile, Murphy cruised by Bysiewicz, the Middletown native and former Secretary of the State, by a comfortable 66 percent to 34 percent margin.

North Branford voters have picked democrat and republican Linda E. McMahon to face off in the November election when the two could possibly vie for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by , a former Democrat-turned-Independent who is retiring.
Whether or not the two will actually contend in November depends on the statewide results, which according to the Associated Press are reflective of local results. Patch will update readers soon as the official results are available.
In North Branford, 717 voters turned out to the polls for today's primaries between District 1 and District 2. The Republicans had 24.4 percent (431) vote with 179 in District 1 and 252 in District 2. The Democrats saw a 13.9 percent (286 voters) turnout with 171 in District 1 and 115 in District 2.
