NB Town Council March 6 Meeting in a Minute

Here's a quick recap of what happened at last night's meeting.

The started on a happy note as a group of Girl Scouts attended to hear Councilwoman Rose Angeloni read a proclamation in honor of the 100-year anniversary of Girl Scouts of the United States (photo and story to follow). 

Town Engineer Kurt Weiss updated the council on special connection fees for sewers and also noted there will be a public hearing for a sewer extension on Gail Drive on March 20.

Committee Reports

The Economic Development Commission and the will hold a Business Development Breakfast on March 16 at 7:30 a.m.

The Parks and Recreation Committee reviewed . It also will hold a public hearing on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss .

The Solid Waste Commission has received request for proposals from South Windsor and West Hartford, which Councilman Mike Doody noted as looking "very good."

Town Manager's Report

touched on several issues including the Stanley T. Williams Conversion project, town road improvement, the Route 80 redesign, , , a package from and fuel prices. (Full story to follow.)

Unfinished Business

The Town Council nominated 14 people to the including Roger Munck, Joe Faughnan, Anthony Candelora, Liz Caplan, Dan Armin, Pat Young, Ron Makowsi, Mary Bigelow, Joanne Doody, Penny Seaman, Steve Onofrio, Ken Emperada, Frank Mentone and Ken Ash. Nominees will be voted on at the March 20 meeting.

The request for qualifications for the architect for are being finalized. There will be a meeting on Thursday, March 8 with State Representative Vincent Candelora, Superintendent Scott Schoonmaker, Don Winnicki, Finance Director , Mayor Candelora and Richard Branigan to talk about status on funding request/reimbursements regarding the roof and work on NBIS.

A special Permanent Project Building Committee meeting was held regarding the where budget numbers were discussed with representatives from the Parks and Recreation Commission, Branigan and Angeloni, representing the Council. (Full story to follow.)
