North Branford Budget Public Hearing Moved to NBIS

The public hearing on April 3 regarding the budget has been moved to the North Branford Intermediate School cafeteria.

The location for the April 3 public hearing for North Branford's 2012-13 budget has changed from to the cafeteria and separated from the Town Council meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, April 4.

At the , Town Manager presented the town's proposed budget, which is available on the town's website, and Superintendent Scott Schoonmaker presented the Board of Education's proposed budget.

The Town Budget 

Branigan described the town's proposed budget of $12,832,671, which has an increase of 3.21 percent over last year's $12,433,588, "as a realistic budget that tries to make the best use of our resources.” The proposed budget will raise the mill rate by 1.78 to 29.55 mills (6.48 percent).

To put the increase in perspective, Branigan gave the following examples: A homeowner with a colonial assessed at $175,000 will see an increase of approximately $311 annually, while someone with a contemporary home assessed at $300,000 can expect to pay about $600 more per year.
