North Branford Councilman Says He Was Cyberbullied After Voting Against New Food Pantry
The councilman said project's organizers "the largest group of cyberbullies" he had ever seen.

One of the North Branford town council members who voted to reject plans for a new food pantry said he was cyberbullied by the project’s organizers, the New Haven Register reports.
Councilman Al Rose said community members posted nasty comments about the council online, trying to bully the council into voting for the pantry.
According to the Register, the council voted 6-2 to reject the food pantry on Sept. 2, citing financial reasons. Project leader Lynn Riordan said the project had been pre-approved twice, but Mayor Anthony Candelora said the council had never formally taken a vote before Sept. 2.

Riordan told the paper she did not cyberbully anyone. She has since set up a page on GoFundMe.com to raise funds and make the project a reality.
Rose said he expects to see the issue before the council again but said he would not consider approving the project under the current leadership, the paper reports.

The councilman told the paper that if they approved the project now it would send a message that if residents don’t get their way, they can go online and bully council members to achieve their goal.
