North Branford Little League 10U Softball All-Stars Wins Districts

Coach-Pitch and 12U softball, 10U baseball also show well in tourney.

North Branford Little League teams continue their strong season, adding more wins in postseason play along with a District 4 title for the 10U softball team.

The 10U softball All-Stars team started a three-game series against Orange on July 9. Despite trailing 3-0 early, North Branford rallied in the fourth and fifth innings to put up eight runs across the two frames. The 10U team’s defense held strong as North Branford went on to take an 8-3 win.

The All-Stars went on to shut out Orange 7-0 to sweep the series and win the District 4 title for the first time in program history.

North Branford will now compete in Sectionals with a bye on Wednesday, July 13 before taking on Redding-Easton on Thursday, July 14 at 5:30 p.m.; Seymour on Saturday, July 16 at 1 p.m.; Wallingford on Sunday, July 17 at 3 p.m.; and Fairfield on Monday, July 18 at 5:30 p.m. All games will be played at Ellsworth Park in Bridgeport.

NBLL Tourney Results Roundup

The Coach-Pitch softball All-Stars team won its first two games, topping East Haven 27-7 and Annex 17-6. The team plays at Orange today at 6 p.m.

The 12U softball All-Stars was scheduled to start its series against Seymour, but the game was postponed to Tuesday, July 12 due to rain. North Branford then took on Darien, winning 15-2 in four innings. Haley Basil and Lindsay Golia each pitched two innings in the win. Yesterday, July 10, North Branford edged Fairfield 6-5. 12U plays today against Bristol and tomorrow against Seymour. Both games are at 5:30 p.m. at Trumbull Unity Park.

In 10U baseball All-Stars action, North Branford fell 6-3 to Orange in the District semifinals on July 9 after on Thursday. 10U scored two runs in the top of the first.

“The defense couldn’t hold Orange,” said Coach Joseph Mascari. “It was a great bunch of kids to coach and we’re already looking forward to the rematch next year.”

The 11U All-Star baseball team ended its season in tournament play with a 15-4 loss to Hamden on July 9.
