North Branford Little League Teams Competing in Districts

The Little League All-Star tournament is underway with North Branford being represented in the 10U, 11U and 12U All-Star baseball tournaments and by the 10U, 11U and 12U and the 10U and 12U All-Star softball tournaments.

10U All-Star Softball

The North Branford 10U softball team is 5-0 in tournament play. 10U started with a 14-2 win over East Haven on June 30 before shutting out Annex 18-0 on July 2. The next day, North Branford took an 11-3 win over Milford. On July 5, the team racked up 18 runs to top Hamden's 7 before edging Orange 6-4 on July 6. 

Now, North Branford is going up against Orange again in a best of three series to battle for the district title. Here's the schedule: the first game is tomorrow, July 8 at 5:30 p.m.; the second is Saturday, July 9 at 3 p.m. with an if-necessary game on Sunday, July 10 at noon. All games will be played at the Orange Complex on Old Tavern Road.

12U Softball

North Branford's 12U All-Star softball team earned the District 4 title in dramatic fashion as it broke a scoreless tie with a two-out hit by Emily Velez in the sixth to leave Orange on the field.

The 12U team now starts Section 1 play with games at Trumbull Unity Park. North Branford has a bye today. Tomorrow the 12U team faces Seymour, the District 3 champion at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, July 9, North Branford faces Darien (District 1 champ) before playing Fairfield (District 2 champ) on Sunday, July 10 at 1 p.m. and then Bristol (District 5 champ) on Monday, July 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Coach-Pitch Softball

The Coach-Pitch team plays today against East Haven at 6 p.m. at North Branford. The CP team also plays on Saturday, July 9 at Annex at 10 a.m.; on Sunday, July 10 against Bethwood at 10 a.m. at home; and on Monday, July 11 at Orange at 6 p.m.

10U All-Star Baseball

North Branford’s 10U team has won two out of three games in tournament play so far and a win today will send North Branford to the district semifinals.

On June 28, the 10U team fell to Max Sinoway 8-6. North Branford bounced back to beat Hamden 15-3 on July 2 and then topped Branford 10-5 on July 5.

If you want to see the 10U team in action, you’re in luck as North Branford takes on Milford International at Wall Field at 5:30 p.m.

11U All-Star Baseball

The 11U team started tourney play on July 2, falling to Orange 11-4. Yesterday, July 6, North Branford took on Max Sinoway, falling 12-2.

Today, North Branford plays Pop Smith at 5:30 p.m. at North Haven and then competes against Hamden on July 9 at noon, also at North Haven.

12U All-Star Baseball

In the 12U tournament, North Branford opened play with a 5-0 loss to Milford International on July 2 followed by an 11-0 loss to Hamden on July 3.

Tournament play continues tomorrow, July 8, when North Branford rematches Milford International at 7:30 p.m. at Milford.  The 12U team then plays against East Haven at 4 p.m., also at Milford.
