North Branford Man, 30, Shot, Killed In New Haven: Police
Zaire Luciano, of the Northford section of town, was shot at around 5:30 a.m. Sunday on Chamberlin Street in the city, police said.
NEW HAVEN, CT —A 30-year-old North Branford man was shot and killed before sunrise on Sunday in New Haven, police said.
Zaire Luciano, from the Northford section of town, was pronounced dead at the scene of the pre-dawn shooting, police spokesperson office Scott Shumway said in an emailed statement.
It was 5:30 a.m., Shumway said, when police got about gunfire on Chamberlain Street, between Chamberlain Place and Forbes Avenue. When police arrived, they found Luciano, who had been struck by gunfire.

Shumway said New Haven Police Investigative Services and Bureau of Identification are investigating.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker issued a statement Sunday afternoon.

“Gun violence is ripping neighborhoods apart – not just here in New Haven, but throughout the country,” Elicker said. “I was at the scene this morning. Following shootings, I talk with neighbors and I see and hear the pain and anguish this brings to our community.”
Stunned and grieving family and friends have posted tributes to Luciano on Facebook.
