North Branford Man Stole $5,500 Worth Of Items From Vehicle: PD

The accused was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, Milford Police say.

MILFORD, CT — A North Branford man was given a $50,000 bond after he is accused of stealing more than $5,000 worth of items from another vehicle, Milford Police say. On June 18, police were called to the parking lot of 68 Bridgeport Avenue on a report of a person taking items from one vehicle and placing them into the bed of a pickup truck, police said.

The witness told police he knew that the person taking the items was not the owner of the vehicle, police said. Before police arrived, the owner of the vehicle arrived and tried to block the suspect vehicle from leaving, police said.

The suspect is accused of striking the victim's vehicle with the pick-up truck and driving off with several items, police said.

The victim told Milford Police that about $5,500 worth of items had been taken from his car, police said. A search of the area resulted in a motor vehicle stop of the suspect on Naugatuck Avenue near the Interstate 95 overpass, which led to his arrest, police said.

Sean McLaughlin, 54, of Twin Lakes Road, in North Branford is also accused of being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle, police said. He is charged with evading responsibility, two counts of third-degree larceny and one count of third-degree burglary.
