North Branford Police Awarded $500K Grant

The police department has been awarded a grant to reduce crime and foster trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

ANDOVER, MA — The North Branford Police Department was awarded a $500,000 grant from the federal Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS).

The grant "is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the North Branford Police Department to advancing community policing and enhancing public safety within the community," police wrote in a statement.

The funding will offset the cost of four officers for the cost of four of the department's 23 officers for three years.

"This grant will make a substantial impact on our ability to enhance public safety and strengthen our commitment to community-oriented policing," Police Chief Kevin Halloran said in a statement.

The COPS Office's goals include reducing crime and fostering trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

"This grant will enable the North Branford Police Department to implement an essential project that contributes to these overarching objectives," Halloran said in a statement.
