North Branford Seniors Learn About Energy Efficiency at the Energize Connecticut Center

Attendees participated in a variety of hands-on activities based around energy conservation

On Monday, July 25, 2016, United Illuminating (UI), through the Energize Connecticut Initiative, conducted tours of the Energize Connecticut Center for seniors from the North Branford Senior Center. Participants received free transportation to and from the Energize Connecticut Center, an interactive resource center in North Haven. They participated in a variety of hands-on activities, where they learned about Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs, the Home Energy Solutions program and the impact it can have on their monthly energy bill, how to reduce the energy consumption of their appliances, and much more. At the completion of the event, guests enjoyed a healthy lunch were provided a gift bag with energy-saving information and a free LED to start, or continue, their path to energy efficiency. UI, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc., and Eversource Energy jointly administer the center, which is funded by a line item on Connecticut utility bills.
