North Branford Sets New Mill Rate, Budget for 2016-17
Town officials kept the spending increase to a minimum.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT - The North Branford Town Council this week set the mill rate for next year at 31.98 mills, which represents an increase of 2.89 percent, and town's budget at a shade under $51 million for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
The spending plan is a little more than half a million dollars above the current year's allocation, of an increase of just over 1 percent.

Despite the percentage increase in the mill rate, many residents will see a decrease in taxes next year because property values have decreased, reports The Sound.
To keep the budget at the $50.99 million mark, officials approved an allocation of just over $316,000 from the town's general fund balance to offset an equal drop in state money.
