North Branford Police Traffic Stop Data Report

The state of Connecticut undertook a traffic stop data report from October 1, 2013 through May 31,2014.

There are 2.54 million Connecticut residents who are of driving age or older. And during that time frame there were 366,000 traffic stops across the state.

Blacks account for 8 percent of the population and were pulled over 14 percent of the time, while Hispanics account for 10 percent of Connecticut’s population and were pulled over about 12 percent of all traffic stops.

In North Branford there are 11,260 residents of driving age and there were 999 reported traffic stops.

Blacks account for 1 percent of the population and Hispanics less than 1 percent.

Blacks were pulled over 4.1 percent of the time and Hispanics were stopped 4.8 percent of the time, according to the report.
