Northford Man, 60, Struck By Car At Gas Station: Hamden Police

Hamden Police say a driver hit a pedestrian at a gas station and offered the clerk $200 to delete the store's video footage before leaving.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are asking for help with identifying a driver who struck a pedestrian at a gas station and offered the clerk $200 to delete the store’s video footage before leaving, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. The incident occurred at Go On Gas, located at 144 Arch St. in Hamden, on June 9.

The victim, a 60-year-old Northford resident, told police that a gold vehicle “slammed” into him, pinning him between his vehicle and the offender’s vehicle, according to Smith. The operator of the offending vehicle engaged him in a brief conversation before fleeing, Smith said. The victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with a leg injury.

Smith said investigation further revealed that the operator of the offending vehicle entered Go On Gas and spoke with the store clerk. He offered the clerk $200 to delete the store’s video footage, Smith said.
