
Mount Saint Mary College students recently presented their research at the Beta Beta Beta biology honors society’s NE-1 district convention, and 15th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the American Chemical Society.
At the American Chemical Society meeting, Nathaniel Dziuba of Northford, Conn., a biology/physical therapy and chemistry double major, won an award for his paper titled “Quantitation of Chalconoid Concentrations in Commercial Licorice Root Extracts Using HPLC” with Mount mentors Lynn Maelia, chemistry; and Suparna Bhalla, biology.
Dziuba also won a second place award at the NE-1 district convention for his research, “Kin recognition in American clawed frog tadpoles during foraging opportunities,” with Mount mentor Douglas Robinson, biology.

The May 2014 Mount Saint Mary College graduate will continue his education at Texas A&M University this fall.
