Elizabeth “Betty” Smith of North Kingstown, R.I. died on Saturday September 9, 2017. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Smith. She was the mother of Marybeth Marshall (Rick) of North Kingstown, R.I. She was the sister of Jacqueline Raditch of FL, and Margaret Lee and Nancy Cochrane of CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Charles Way, Andrew George Way (fiancé Pradnya Sakpal), Katherine Way Clark, and Kevin Way (Lauren), as well as many nieces & nephews.

Betty was born in New Haven on August 24, 1927, a daughter of the late John and Agnes Carroi Garvey. She was a Teacher’s Aide for the New Haven Public School System for many years , where she put her heart and soul into her job.

She was a long time resident of North Branford and Lanphiers Cove in Branford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 at St. Mary Church in Branford. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Hamden. Friends may call prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford.
