Obituary: George R. Trecarten Sr., 82, of North Branford
George, who proudly served in the US Navy as a radar man during the Cuban Missile Crisis, enjoyed travel, camping, and stamp collecting.

George R. Trecarten Sr., 82, of North Branford, passed peacefully at home on August 28th, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Ann Venturo Trecarten. George was born in New Haven on March 14, 1941, the son of the late Kenneth E. and Irma B. Trecarten. George proudly served in the US Navy as a radar man during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He then received an AS degree in Business from South Central Community College and later received a BS degree in Computer Science from Quinnipiac College. At the time of his retirement, he was working as a computer programmer consultant. He and Ann spent their retirement traveling cross country in their motorhome, taking cruises, camping with friends and enjoyed a winter home in Florida. George was an avid stamp collector who enjoyed spending time with his family and his faithful companion, Cuddles. . He is survived by his wife, Ann, his daughter Sherry DelGaudio (Jeffrey), granddaughters Mariana Dombrowski (Ryan) and Carissa DelGaudio, daughter-in-law Kimberly Trecarten and granddaughters Alison Trecarten and Lorianna Trecarten. He was predeceased by son George Trecarten, Jr
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Friday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Ambrose Parish at St. Augustine Church at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call FRIDAY MORNING from 8:30-10:30. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn. at www.act.alz.org.
