Obituary: Mary Elizabeth (Ginnetty) Humby, 70, of North Branford
Artistic, creative and giving, she was a North Branford elementary schools ACES teacher who heroically battled health challenges.

Mary Elizabeth (Ginnetty) Humby passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on November 28, 2022. Mary Elizabeth (Ginnetty) Humby passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on November 28, 2022. Beloved wife of Joseph Humby and loving, proud mother to her son Michael J. Humby of North Branford, she was born in Milton MA on April 27, 1952 to the late Matthew B. Ginnetty and Mary Catherine Doherty Ginnetty.
Mary graduated from Stonehill College in North Easton MA where she was an English major and obtained her teaching degree. She was an English teacher for eight years at Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton MA. She went on to obtain her Masters at Boston College in counseling. She also received her medical Social Work certificate from the Mass. General Hospital Health Care Institute and worked as a Social Worker at Spalding Rehab in Boston, MA. She also was a teacher in the ACES program in the North Branford elementary schools. For many years she was the co-leader of a Diabetes Wellness support group in St. Ambrose Parish.

Besides her husband of thirty six and a half years and her son, Mary is survived by brothers Paul (Carole) Ginnetty of Smithtown Long Island, Matthew (Katherine) Ginnetty of Wrentham MA; sisters Eileen Ginnetty of Medford MA, Joyce (Richard) Bickerton of Topsfield MA; and many nieces, nephews, dear cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews whom she loved dearly.
Mary was artistic and creative and a driving force in planning celebrations and family get-togethers. She remembered family and friends for all special occasions and had a most giving spirit. She had tremendous perseverance and battled health challenges as a hero.
Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Rd., North Branford on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. & Friday, December 2nd from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12 noon at St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Rd., North Branford. Interment immediately following at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Mary’s honor.
