Obituary: Richard Erickson, Sr., 81, Of Branford

Richard A. Erickson Sr., (Doc) passed away Sunday September 24, 2017 at CT Hospice in Branford. He was the Beloved husband of the late Maureen Barns Erickson. Richard was born in New Haven on November 20, 1935, to the late Arthur and Lillian (Anderson) Erickson.

Richard was a U.S. Veteran serving in the Air Force from 1953 to 1957, as a Communication Specialist. After his military career he worked in dispatch for several trucking companies from 1960 to 1980. Richard also worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier from 1985 until his retirement in 2006. He was a devoted father and friend, he will be sadly missed.

He is survived by two sons, Richard Erickson Jr. and David Erickson, both of West Haven, and his daughter Cynthia Kelly of Killingworth. He is also survived by two grandchildren Matthew and Mary Kelly. Richard is predeceased by two brothers Arthur Erickson Jr. and Robert Erickson.

Family and friends are invited to the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven Friday September 29, from 9 to 11am with a service starting at 11am. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in West Haven with full military honors.
