Obituary: ​Stephen J. Maler Sr., 88, of North Branford

Stephen was a sports enthusiast, loving to watch baseball, football, bowling and Little League, especially cheering on the Cleveland Browns.

Stephen J. Maler Sr., age 88, of North Branford, passed away February 4, 2018 at St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Angela Maria Cappella. He was born in Derby, CT on August 27, 1929 to the late Maryan and Julia Maler.

Stephen was a United States Army Veteran serving in Korea and WWII. After his military career he worked for BF Goodrich in Shelton, CT as Plant Manager for 35 years and retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford after 15 years. Stephen loved to play horseshoes and pool in Florida where he lived for 10 years. Stephen was a sports enthusiast, loving to watch baseball, football, bowling and Little League, especially cheering on the Cleveland Browns. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his three children, Stephen-Skip (Kathi) Maler Jr. of North Branford, Jannine (Frank) Malicki of Summerfield, FL and Bruce (Kim) Maler of Shelton, CT. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Stephen (Allysia) Maler III, Megan (Sam) Manning, Amy (Joe) Gambardella, Brian (Danielle) Maler and Bruce John Maler. He also leaves behind three great grandchildren, which were the joy of his life, Taya Torres, Lucas Maler and Grace Gambardella.
